Proper Use of This Medicine
Use this medicine only as directed by your doctor. Do not use more of it and do not use it more often than your doctor ordered. To do so may increase the chance of absorption through the lining of the
nose and the chance of unwanted effects.
Check with your doctor before using this medicine for nasal problems other than the one for which it was prescribed, since it should not be used on m
any bacterial, viral, or fungal nasal infections.

Side Effects
Check with your doctor as soon as possible if any of the following side effects occur:
- Bad smell; blindness; bloody mucus or unexplained nosebleeds; blurred or gradual loss of vision; b
urning or stinging after use of spray or irritation inside nose (continuing); crusting, white patches, or sores inside nose; discharge or redness in eye, eyelid, or inner lining of the eyelid; eye
pain; headache; hives ; light-headedness or dizziness; loss of sense of taste or smell; muscle pain; nausea or vomiting; ringing in the ears ; shortness of breath; skin rash; sore throat, co
ugh, or hoarseness; stomach pains; stuffy, dry, or runny nose or watery eyes (continuing); swelling of eyelids, face, or lips;

Overdose
Acne; blurred vision; bone fractures; excess hair growth in females; fullness or rounding of the face, neck, and trunk; high blood pressure; impotence in males ; increased urination or thirst;
lack of menstrual periods; menstrual changes; muscle wasting and weakness

Significant Interactions:
Tell your health care professional if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription (over-the-counter [OTC]) medicines, such as:
- Ephedrine or
- Phenobarbital or
- Rifampin (e
.g., Rifadin)¡XEphedrine, phenobarbital, and rifampin may decrease the blood levels of nasal Nasonex, such as dexamethasone, warranting an increase in corticosteroid dose

What is this medicine
A long-term treatment for allergies, Nasonex does not provide immediate relief. To be effective, it must be used regularly once a day. It starts working within 2 days after the first dose, but takes 1
to 2 weeks to yield its maximum benefits. If you suffer from hay fever, you should begin taking it 2 to 4 weeks before the start of pollen season.

What special precautions should I follow?
If your allergy symptoms fail to improve--or get worse--while you are using Nasonex, inform your doctor.
When switching from steroid tablets to Nasonex nasal spray, some people develop withd
rawal symptoms such as fatigue, depression, and joint or muscle pain. If you notice any of these symptoms, tell your doctor.
In rare cases, a hypersensitivity to steroids or excessive use of
Nasonex leads to menstrual irregularities, acne, obesity, and muscle weakness. If these symptoms occur, you should tell your doctor immediately. You may have to gradually discontinue use of this prod
uct under your doctor's supervision.
